Ventilation is necessary to avoid a build up of ammonia and damp air which can cause untold problems for your flock. Sliding windows will help to keep the air flowing through the house during the day, and during the summer will also keep it cool.

Insulation to protect the flock from very cold winters is also necessary in order to keep them in perfect health. Healthy, happy chickens will continue to lay eggs on a daily basis, so before you go ahead with your portable chicken coop and run construction, consider all these points.

Make sure each bird has sufficient room to roost, nest and exercise. Ensure a daily supply of fresh clean water and food which is accessible to all the birds in your flock. Keep the coop well ventilated, insulated, maintained and clean in order to create a healthy environment.
